Penny Ann (Nichols) Hughes of Parks Twp., PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning.

A daughter of the late Wayne Nichols and Dorothy (Grossheim) Nichols, she was born June 12, 1948, in New Kensington, PA, Westmoreland County.

Penny enjoyed painting, quilting and making craft projects.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Richard T. Hughes of Parks Twp., PA; and her daughter, Barbara Carvell (Thomas) of Parks Twp., PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Nichols, who was the Chief of Police in Burton, Ohio.

Friends welcomed by her family on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Elder Jeff Cox officiating.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
