Mary I. (Kuchta) Carter, 90, of Cabot, PA, formerly of Vandergrift, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

A daughter of the late Michael Kuchta and Marie (Hrinik) Kuchta, she was born May 8, 1926, in Ford City, Armstrong County, PA.

Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took pleasure in taking care of those around her.  She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg who assisted her church in comprising the monthly newsletters.  For 11 years, she had been employed as a polisher for PPG in Ford City.  Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, watching old western movies, flower gardening, listening to all kinds of music, playing bingo with her friends at Concordia, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Albert G. Carter of Cabot, PA; three sons, Keith D. Carter (Cindy) of Shepherdstown, WV, Robert A. Carter (Margie) of Allegheny Twp., PA, Kenneth M. Carter (Natalya) of Fredricksburg, VA; a daughter, Carolyn A. Shaffer (Michael) of Allegheny Twp., PA; six grandchildren, Jarrett Carter (Kayla), Allison Carter, Patrick Carter, Aaron Carter, Alexis Shaffer and Sophia Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, John, Nicholas and Walter Kuchta; and three sisters, Helen Russick, Ann Cibik and Olga Cesario.

Friends welcomed by her family on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).  Additional visitation will be held from 10-10:30 AM the time of services on Thursday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 358 Main Street Leechburg, with the Reverend James V. Arter III officiating.  Private interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell.
