Edward David “Teddy” Newton, 63, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Butler.

A son of the late Dean Newton and June (Walker) Newton, he was born March 9, 1953, in Natrona Heights, PA.

Edward worked as a diesel mechanic with Lampus in Springdale, PA, as well as being a self-employed logger.  An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Bronze Star.  Edward was of the Methodist faith and an animal lover.  He enjoyed being a handyman and working on vehicles, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Brenda (Henry) Newton of Leechburg, PA; his son, Chad E. Newton (Allison) of Leechburg, PA; his two daughters, Deanna J. Coleman (Adam) of Leechburg, PA, and Michelle L. Long of Leechburg, PA; five grandsons and a granddaughter, Joshua Newton, Dylan Funkhouser, Lucas Oldfield, Tanner Coleman, Alleccia Coleman and Tyler Coleman; a great-granddaughter, Mia Funkhouser; two brothers, Jesse Newton (Cindy) of Apollo, PA, Herbert Newton (Lisa) of Leeper, PA; a sister, Dottie Shinko of Leechburg, PA; and his stepmother, Hazel Newton of Apollo, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Newton and Mark Newton.

Friends welcomed by his family on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday with the Reverend Stephen Rearick officiating.  Military services will be conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans’ Honor Guard.  Interment will be made at the convenience of the family.
