Betty Jane (Riess) Bollinger, 89, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
A daughter of the late George A. Riess and Alma P. (Thiele) Riess, she was born November 20, 1927, in Natrona Heights, PA.
Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, traveling, card club and life itself. After retiring she traveled with her friends to Italy, Alaska, Broadway plays and to see family. She was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg and the church’s W.E.L.C.A. organization, the Monday Evening Club, and the Leechburg American Legion Auxiliary. Betty served as secretary for her church for 24 years and volunteered at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
Survivors include her three sons, W. David Bollinger (Denise) of Cedar Park, TX, Daniel J. Bollinger (Becky) of Leechburg, PA, Mark A. Bollinger (Kim) of York, PA; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Joanne, Corey Nicholas, William Tyler, Adam Michael, Katherine Shaw, Gabrielle Rose, Grace Olivia; three great-grandchildren, Zoso Solei Buskey, Addison Faye Brown, Silas Edward Bollinger; two brothers, George A. Riess of Carmichaels, PA and John E. Riess of North Fort Myers, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Bollinger on May 17, 1985, the love of her life. She was married to Bill for 35 years. She was also preceded by a brother, Louis T. Riess; and a sister, Peggy Shaffer.
Friends welcomed by her family on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, July 28, with the Reverend Edward Sheehan officiating. Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell.
