Willovene “Louise” (Clark) Sheaffer, 85, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at West Haven Nursing Home in Washington Twp.
A daughter of the late Veryl M. Clark and Madeline (Moore) Clark, she was born September 25, 1931, in Parks Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
Willovene was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church in Leechburg where she taught Sunday School, participated in the Ladies’ Auxiliary and was well-known for her communion bread. She was affectionately called the “cookie lady” and was renowned for her bread and buns. Willovene also enjoyed quilting and seamstress projects, doing ceramics, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Donald A. Sheaffer (Brentta) of West Leechburg, PA, Samuel D. Sheaffer (Amy) of Parks Twp., PA; four daughters, Bonnie E. Steffan (David) of Vandergrift, PA, Darlene Schantz of Vandergrift, PA, Jamie I. Sibik (Anthony) of Delmont, PA, Julie D. Hansen (Joel) of Vandergrift, PA; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Veryl M. “Jack” Clark (Ruby) of Parks Twp., PA; and a half-sister, Betty Lou of Baltimore, MD.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Sheaffer on December 30, 2006; an infant grandson, Clint Schantz; and a half-brother, David Clark.
Friends welcomed by her family on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051). Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 AM, the time of services, at the First United Methodist Church, 251 Main Street, Leechburg, with the Reverend Jerrad R. Peterman officiating. Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell.
