William C. Muffley, 85, of West Leechburg, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Quality Life Services-Apollo.

A son of the late Paul Muffley and Mary (Hill) Muffley, he was born February 25, 1937 in Avonmore, PA.

William was a 1957 graduate of Bell Avon High School in Salina.  He had been employed as a general foreman with the former Salina Plant of General Refractories for 25 years before retiring in 1999.  He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, doing yard maintenance and working on small engines.

Survivors include a sister, Nancy Pauline Hutton of Apollo; stepsons, Rev. Joseph Tira (Kathleen), Randy L. Tira (Carol); 12 stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchlildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marietta Jean (Ashbaugh) Muffley in October 2017; two brothers, Merle and Earl Muffley; a sister, Mary Ellen Strother; and a stepson, Dennis G. Tira.
