Walter Page Frederick, 84, of Allegheny Township, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Fruitland Park, Florida.
A son of the late Walter H. Frederick and Mary Evelyn (Page) Frederick, he was born on October 6, 1937 in Brackenridge (Harrison Township), PA.
Walter graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1955 then attended Penn State University. He excelled as a chemical technologist for 35 years at Alcoa Research Laboratories. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ellen Deininger on March 1, 1958. They loved traveling together, fishing in Canada, going to the beach and spending the winters in sunny Florida.
Walter was a lifetime member of Leechburg Elks Lodge #377, serving as Exalted Ruler from 1973-1974. He regularly called Bingo for the Elks, as well as at his Community Social Hall in Florida. He was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (Kiski Valley Region) for over 50 years and frequently served as a judge. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Vandergrift where he was an active member of the Christian Fellowship Class and often taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his three children, Lynn Pollock (Alan) of Allegheny Township, Robert Frederick (Melissa Seibert) of Millersburg, Dale Frederick (Kim) of Vandergrift; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard Longnecker) Pollock, Amanda (Eric Sopko) Pollock, Emily Frederick, and Julia Frederick; four step-grandchildren, Kira Brill, Sarah (Andrew) Wright, David (Eva) Feuerstacke, Chelsea Feuerstacke; two great-grandchildren, Cecelia Soplock and a new baby on the way; and three step-great grandchildren Ethan Feuerstacke, Kaden Feuerstacke, and baby Feuerstacke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in June 2015; four sisters, Mary Anthony Rew, Eleanor Barr, Margaret Goedicke and Nancy Zakrzewski; daughter-in-law, Deedie Frederick; and five great-grandbabies.
Friends will be welcomed by his family from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, followed by funeral ceremonies at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Sara Wrona officiating. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, to allow people to enjoy the beach and blue crabs as much as Walter did, or to another charity of your choice.
