Stella M. (Barto) Caramellino Obituary

Stella M. (Barto) Caramellino, 99, of West Leechburg, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, surrounded by love at the Pine View Personal Care Home in Vandergrift.

Born in Kelly Station, Bethel Township on December 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Michael P. and Julia (Ulicky) Barto. Stella spent her working years on the bottling line at the Joseph S. Finch Distillery in Schenley, PA, until its closure. She was deeply rooted in her community as a member of Christ the King Church in Gilpin Township, the Marconi Club Ladies Auxiliary, and the Leechburg Elks.

Stella lived life to the fullest and stayed remarkably active. She bowled into her 80s with the Kiski Spacette Women’s league at Lee’s Lanes and played in the Marconi Club’s women’s bocce league until she was 96, where she famously “always had her groove on.” A passionate fan of all Pittsburgh sports, she especially loved cheering on the Pirates at games with her family. In her free time, she also enjoyed casino trips, jigsaw puzzles, and card games. Most of all, Stella loved being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Fredericke G. Caramellino, whom she married on November 3, 1951; her son-in-law, Robin W. Marsh; her sister, Ethel (Everett) Leard; and her brothers, Edward (Norma), Walter, Emil (Martha), and Daniel Barto. She was also preceded by her brothers-in-law, Charles (Lorraine), Joseph (Mary), and Frank (Mildred) Caramellino; and sister-in-law, Frances (Joseph) Canzano.

Her legacy lives on through her two daughters who were blessed to call her Mom: Sally L. Marsh of Lower Burrell, and Janette M. (Mark) George of West Leechburg. She was the proud grandmother of Marisa (Luke) Verner of West Leechburg and Carlee (Luke Hart) George of Pittsburgh; and the adored great-grandmother of Lennon and Amelia Verner. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pine View Personal Care Home for their exceptional, compassionate care. Stella's vibrant spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Friends will be welcomed by her family on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 3-6 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, where Parting Prayers of Transfer will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Rd., Leechburg, with the Rev.
