Shirley Irene (Campbell) Rua, 90, of West Leechburg, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, in her residence.

A daughter of the late Harold R. Campbell and Oma I. (Custer) Campbell, she was born August 4, 1935, in Springdale, PA.

Shirley was a graduate of Springdale High School and the Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing.  She had been employed as a registered nurse by Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights for 11 years before retiring in 1995.  Her memberships included Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township (the former St. Catherine R.C. Church in Leechburg), the West Leechburg Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Vandergrift Meals on Wheels and West Leechburg Crime Watch.  Shirley enjoyed sewing and baking and vacationing with friends.

She is survived by twin sons, Timothy J. and Thomas J. Rua, both of West Leechburg; two daughters, Kimberly Barth (Ronald) of West Leechburg and Kathy Long of East Vandergrift; six grandchildren, Tommy Rua, Anthony Rua (Mikayla), Lea Kuhn (Shane), Tyler Barth, Mindy Long (Jimmy), Robbie Rua; two great-grandchildren, Tony Rua Jr. and Kennedy Kuhn; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “JJ” James Rua in 1992; a son, John R. Rua; brothers, Robert M. and Harold R. Campbell; and sisters-in-law, Alice and Lillian Campbell.

Friends will be welcomed by her family on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 29, at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, in Gilpin Township with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant.  Everyone attending the Mass is asked to meet at the church.  Private interment will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
