Ronald W. George, 83, of Leechburg, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Quality Life Services-Apollo.

A son of the late D. Paul George and Mylessia (Ednie) George, he was born November 30, 1938 in Vandergrift, PA.

Ronald had worked as an insurance agent for MetLife Insurance in Lower Burrell for many years before retiring in 2000.  He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vandergrift and former President of the Strongland Chamber of Commerce.  Ronald was an accomplished musician being a co-founding member and last surviving member of “The Fenways.”  For many years Ronald also played with the bands “Racket Squad” and “Magic.”  He also enjoyed camping, watching and attending Steeler football games, spending time with his grandchildren and coaching Little League.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carol A. (McCall) George of Leechburg; two sons, Mark George (Janette) of West Leechburg, Randy George (Jim Fisher) of Brackenridge; three daughters, Michele Hayes (Gary Schmittler) of Vandergrift, Kari Matlack (Ted) of Bell Township; Renee Cinpinski (Ryan Green) of Allegheny Township; five grandchildren, Keeton Hayes of Denver, CO, Marisa George (Luke Verner) of Leechburg, Carlee George of Leechburg, Christian Steele of Bell Township, Isaac Cinpinski of Allegheny Township; a brother, Daryl George (Kathy) of Laurel, MD; a sister, Pam Murphy (Jimmy) of San Antonio, TX; a sister-in-law, Lenore George of Bowie, MD; a brother-in-law, Gary McCall of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith George.

Friends will be welcomed by his family on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.   Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.   In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ronald may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
