It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Leroy Waddell, who peacefully departed this life on November 27, 2024, at the age of 90.

Born to John and Jenella Waddell, Robert grew up in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, where he cultivated his lifelong love for the outdoors.  A dedicated and hardworking man, Robert built a career as a machinist and retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, where his commitment and determination left a lasting impression.

Robert shared 70 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Shirley, creating a loving home in Allegheny Township.  Together, they raised five children:  Cheryl (Tim) Permigiani, Cindy Guthrie (preceded in death by her husband, Bill), Bob (Kathy) Waddell, Randy (Karen) Waddell, and Sharon (Jenny) Waddell.  His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and cherished the opportunity to travel.  He especially loved beach vacations with family and motorcycle trips with Shirley and friends.  Winters spent in Florida at the Good Life RV Resort were a favorite time, where he enjoyed shuffleboard, bingo and card games with dear friends.

Robert was a member of Pine Run Presbyterian Church and participated in several camping organizations, including the Newmar Club, Clarion County Campers, TeePee Chapter, and Kiski Penn Campers.

Robert will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his enthusiasm for life and love of nature.

A private celebration of Robert’s life will be held by his family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
