Robert John Jones, age 69, of West Leechburg, was born on October 3, 1951 and passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Rob worked meticulously as a quality assurance engineer in Pittsburgh for 40 years. A frequent visitor to the Roaring Run trail, he took pleasure in hiking and being outdoors, always ready to capture every aspect of the ecosystem with a camera. He was also a voracious consumer of military history and lore, particularly that of Gettysburg. While an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and faithful Notre Dame supporter, Rob most enjoyed coaching little league baseball and watching his sons play sports. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and caring son. His signature gruff exterior hid his heart of gold, which his family will forever miss.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; mother, Elizabeth; sons, Raine (Lindsay), Devin, and Ry; and grandson, Royston.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert John Jones, Jr.
Due to the coronavirus, there will be no in-person services. The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) has been entrusted with private arrangements.
