Richard D. "Nanny" Whiting Sr., 75, of Kiskiminetas Township, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in his residence.
A son of the late Henry R. Whiting and Margaret (Tyler) Whiting of West Leechburg, PA., he was born August 28, 1950, in New Kensington, PA.
Richard was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He attended Leechburg Area High School and had been employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Mill and also had been employed as a truck driver. Richard was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Leechburg. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
He is survived by his only sister, Deborah A. Hopkins (Charles) of Fairborn, Ohio; longtime companion, Lillian R. "Billie" McDade of Kiskiminetas Township and her children; and his children, Richard D. "Wee" Whiting Jr. of Allegheny Township, Nanette Whiting of New Kensington, Dion Pearson of Ohio, Leah Johnson of Jeannette, Eric Whiting of Armstrong County and Zhanneah Whiting of Pittsburgh; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Timothy, Gregory, and Henry L. “Butch” Whiting; and his ex-wife, Mary Ellen.
All arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.
