Richard P. Odasso, age 98, of West Leechburg, died October 24, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh. Born in Gilpin Township, on March 17, 1924, he was the son of the late Peter and Maria (Ravotti) Odasso, stepson of the late Mary (Camparo) Odasso and husband of the late Doris (Richardson) Odasso.
Richard was a member of Christ The King Parish in Leechburg. He was a U.S. Army, World War II veteran, and served with the 613th Engineer Company in the European Theater of Operations. A retiree of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation with 39 years of service, he worked as a slitter operator and craneman. Richard was a former president of West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Co and his memberships included Vandergrift VFW Post 566, Dick Tady Polka Band Fan Club, White Star Fraternal Society, and National Wild Turkey Federation. He was a hard worker. He adored Doris, his wife of 76 years, who died in February. An avid sportsman, he hunted with his son, Gary, fished with his son, Chris and did both with his best friend, Chuckie. Richard will be forever remembered as a loving grandfather.
Survivors include sons, Gary (Rachel, kindred spirit in gardening) of Rio Rancho, NM and Chris (Roberta) of White Oak; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ellen Odasso and step sister-in-law, Helen Warnick; nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by brothers, Silvio, Mario and James. A special thank you for the years of wonderful memories goes out to Monica and John, Danny, Sister and Luddy, Sandy, Charlene, Michael, Dr. David, Mary Ellen and Lou, Dolores and Tony, Alicia and Wayne.
Family and friends will be welcomed at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg on Wednesday, November 2, from 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at Christ The King Parish, 125 Park Rd., Gilpin Township. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in West Leechburg.
