Raymond Ottavio Steffanina, 91, of Bethel Park, formerly of Allegheny Township, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2020 in his residence.
A son of the late Ottavio Steffanina and Benedetta (Favero) Steffanina, he was born in Hyde Park in 1928.
Raymond was a 1947 graduate of Leechburg High School. He had been employed as a bundler/shipper by Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in West Leechburg for 45 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the former St. Francis Catholic Church in Hyde Park and current member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township. As a talented musician, Raymond played the accordion and led a 3-piece polka band called the “Music Makers.” He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, dancing and playing pinochle at the Leechburg Sokal Club.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Eleanor (Vodzak) Steffanina of Bethel Park; a son, Ron Steffanina (Kimberle) of Ross Township; two daughters, Valerie Bailey (Dennis) of Jefferson Hills, Amy Flowers (Harry) of Bethel Park; seven grandchildren, Amanté Steffanina (Chelsea), Mario Steffanina (Laura), Melissa Bailey, Justine Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Adelai Flowers, Brody Flowers; three great-grandchildren, Lucenzo, Nova and Giuseppe Steffanina; brother-in-law, Louis Vodzak; sisters-in-law, Betty Vodzak, Julia Vodzak and Maryann Steffanina; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel and John; sisters, Sue, Lena and Rose.
Friends will be welcomed by his family on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 11 a.m. until Noon at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Leechburg (Gilpin Township) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon with Rev. James H. Loew, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township. All visitors are asked to respectfully follow current state guidelines of required masks/face coverings and social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Parish or your favorite charity. The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) is in charge of arrangements.
