Paul Klanica Obituary

Paul David Klanica, 80, of Allegheny Township (Freeport), passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

A son of the late Joseph M. “Katz” Klanica and Mary (Romanik) Klanica, he was born April 13, 1942 in Natrona Heights, PA.

Paul had been employed as a piping engineer with Koppers Corp. of Pittsburgh and also worked at Stanford Home Center of Allegheny Township before retiring in 2004.  He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont where he participated in the Kitchen Ministry.  Paul was an exceptional cook who was well-known at the church’s fish frys and apple dumpling events.

Paul enjoyed traveling all over the world with his beloved wife Karen.  He was quite the gentleman with his kind and loving nature.  His hobbies included stamp collecting, hunting and bird watching.  His passion for fly fishing lead to him being a very avid fisherman who created and tied his own artificial flies.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Karen L. (Cibik) Klanica of Allegheny Township; his two sons, Paul D. “Dave” Klanica Jr. (Mary Grace) of Blaine, WA, and Christopher Scot Klanica of Dickson, TN; two grandsons, Benjamin David Klanica and Patrick Jamie Klanica; a brother, Eugene D. Klanica of West Leechburg; a sister-in-law, Linda A. Klanica of West Leechburg; and his cat “Socks.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Molly Claire Klanica in 2014; and a brother, Anthony J. Klanica in 2000.

Friends will be welcomed by his family on Saturday, July 2, 2022 for his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 305 Freeport St., Delmont, PA 15626, with Dr. Rev. Ron Raptosh officiating.  A luncheon will follow in the church hall.  Interment will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.
