Patricia J. (Ray) Hughes, of Allegheny Township, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Quality Life Services of Sarver.
She was born in Lower Burrell, a daughter of the late John D. and Margaret F. Ray. Pat married in 1965 to Leonard L. Hughes.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Hughes (Chi) of West Leechburg, Douglas Hughes (Vicki) of Vandergrift; a sister, Elizabeth Bryant of Falls Church, VA; two brothers, John D. Ray of Allegheny Township, Harry Ray (Joan) of Allegheny Township; four loving grandchildren, Lucie, Douglas, Nicholas, Haylee Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.
A 1959 graduate of New Kensington High School, Pat was a secretary for several companies and worked for 20 years at Giant Eagle before retiring. She also received her hair dressing license in 1961. Pat was known for her generosity and resourcefulness in making crafts and giving them to others. Best known as a talented seamstress, she was passionate about creating beautiful quilts, as was her mother. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors and her pet dog, Molly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, of 44 years; two sisters, Melva Null and Joyce Kline; four brothers, Martin, Eugene, Ralph and Dale Ray.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies beginning at 1 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating. Private entombment will be held at Greenwood Mausoleum in Lower Burrell.
