Oral Kenneth “Jock” Shaffer Jr., 91, formerly of Leechburg, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

A son of the late Oral Kenneth Shaffer Sr. and June (Young) Shaffer Miller, he was born October 25, 1934, in Beech Bottom, WV.

Oral was a 1952 graduate of Leechburg Area High School and of the Episcopalian faith.  He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from 1957-1959.  For over 44 years, Oral worked as a bundler leader for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in West Leechburg and Bagdad before retiring in 1997.  He was a member of the Steel Workers’ Union #1138.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling (especially beach vacations with his family), working in his yard, playing cards, reading, and being a Pittsburgh sports fan.

He is survived by his two daughters, Robin Russe of Lower Burrell and Brooke Shaffer of Natrona Heights; two granddaughters, Jillian and Danielle; a brother, Charles Miller (Judy) of Lower Burrell; and two sisters, Jean Solomon of Leechburg and Betty Hunter of Cabot.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Thompson) Shaffer in 2000; and a son-in-law, Edward Russe.

Friends will be welcomed by the family on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  Chaplain Faith Gravitt will officiate the service.  Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
