Myrtle May (Pettigrew) Prunty, 89, of Gilpin Township, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, in her residence.
A daughter of the late Herbert Theodore Pettigrew and Mabel Genevieve (Walker) Pettigrew, she was born May 30, 1936, in Leechburg, PA.
Myrtle was a wife and mother who enjoyed homemaking, looking through cookbooks, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leechburg where she was a Methodist Youth Advisor. Myrtle was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Leechburg Area Mothers’ Club, and Parks Township Sportsman Club.
She is survived by a son, William Walter Prunty III of Leechburg; a daughter, Karen Jean Bilbie (Thomas) of Gilpin Township; four grandchildren, Faith, Dylan, Kristopher, and Katie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Walter Prunty in 2011; and three brothers, William Lindsay Pettigrew, Kenneth Harold Pettigrew, and Earl Dwight Pettigrew.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at the funeral home with Pastor Sara Wrona officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
