Michael A. Pierro Sr., 99, of Allegheny Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home.

A son of the late Joseph and Theresa Perri, he was born September 20, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Michael was a decorated U.S. Army veteran having served as a Sergeant during World War II.  He survived the battle at Normandy, but was wounded, for which he received the Purple Heart and several other medals including two Bronze Stars.  After the War, he was employed as a steelworker by J&L Steel for over 28 years.  He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the United Steel Workers.

Michael was a multiple sports athlete having played baseball, football, boxing, golf, and softball (for the Lawrenceville Tigers).  He was an avid lifetime fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.  One of his favorite pastimes was mowing his lawn.  Above all, Michael loved his wife and cherished his family.

Survivors include his three children, Michael A. Pierro Jr. (Christine), Debbie Lyons (Russ), Darlene Feil; nine grandchildren, Victoria Pierro, Austin Pasquerella, Michael A. Pierro III, Tim Lyons, Stephanie Lyons, Dana Markwardt, Bryce Markwardt, William Feil, Sarah Feil; five great-grandchildren, Asher, Amelia, August, Jordan, Briella; and a brother, John Perri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Regan) Pierro; four brothers, Dominic, Victor, Joey and Jimmy Pierro; two sisters, Flo Wagner and Angie Ciccotelli; and a son-in-law, Bill Lyons.

Friends will be welcomed by his family on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  A Blessing Service will follow visitation at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski officiating.  Private entombment will be held at Christ Our Redeemer North Side Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
