Matthew L. Crawford, 73, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in his residence.
A son of the late Eugene C. Crawford and Martha C. (Sansoe) Crawford, he was born January 18, 1947, in Natrona Heights.
Matthew was a 1965 graduate of Kiski Area High School where he played football. For 20 years, he was employed in the glass dept. of Kensington Windows in Parks Township before retiring in October 2008. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War.
Matthew was a member of Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Township, the Bethel Masonic Lodge #789 of Lower Burrell, the Parks Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and Deputy Waterways Patrolman of the Fish Commission of Armstrong County. He was an avid history buff and Civil War re-enactor. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, gardening, cooking, and going to Bible study and helping to teach.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sandra L. (Stear) Crawford of Leechburg; a son, Nathan Crawford (Tracy) of Vandergrift; a daughter, Molly Artman (Shawn) of Vandergrift; three granddaughters, Madison, Ashlee, Lindsey; a grandson, Mason; and a brother, Lorin Crawford of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonita Ann Wintersteller.
The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) is assisting with private arrangements. There will be no public visitation or funeral services at this time. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with interment at the church cemetery in Gilpin Township.
