Mary R. Nigra, 87, formerly of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh.
A daughter of the late John Rizzo and Frances (Gualteri) Rizzo, she was born June 15, 1933, in Cowansville.
Mary was a graduate of Kittanning High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the former Assumption R.C. Church and currently Christ The King Parish in Gilpin Township. She was also a former member of the Junior Woman’s Club in Leechburg. Mary enjoyed reading, traveling, decorating, gourmet cooking, and bowling and was a member of Kiski Spacettes bowling league.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Mark Andrew Nigra (Kathleen) of Apollo, Thomas John Nigra (Debra) of Pittsburgh, Dr. Andrew Benjamin Nigra III (Karen) of Freeport; seven grandchildren, Michael (Grace), Alexander (Raquel), Benjamin (Claire), Peter (Bethany), Ann, Jonathan and Andrew Nigra IV; two great-grandchildren, Louis and Clara Nigra; two brothers, Joseph Rizzo (Joyce) of Kittanning, Michael Rizzo (Corina) of Kittanning; and a sister, Alma Brochetti of Kittanning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew B. Nigra Jr. in 2009; and a sister, Josephine Rizzo.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Christ The King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, followed immediately at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. James H. Loew, O.S.B. as celebrant. All visitors are asked to respectfully follow current state requirements of wearing masks, social distancing and gathering restrictions. Private interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township. The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) has been entrusted with arrangements.
