On January 12, 2024, Martha Stano was carried on angel wings to her final caregiver, God in Heaven.
On April 8, 1952, Martha was born to Helen Ann (Shamitko) and Valentine Stano of Leechburg, Pennsylvania. Although she was born profoundly mentally and physically disabled due to cerebral palsy, Martha lived with a happy gracious personality. She always had a smile and a laugh for the people who visited with her and her caregivers. She was truly loved by all who knew her. Martha was first taken into the care of St. Edmonds Home in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, followed by Canonsburg State Home and Hospital, her sister Rose Marie, ABLE, Inc., and St. Benedict’s Nursing home in Dickinson, ND.
Martha was predeceased by two sisters and one brother: Augustina (Stano) Chiatello Napoli, Gerard Stano, and Juliana (Stano) DelCimmuto; and is survived by two sisters and one brother: Mary Jane (Carl Defilippi), Thomas (MaryLou) Stano, and Rose Marie Bond. Martha is also survived by twenty-one nieces and nephews, several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services for Martha will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Catherine Cemetery Chapel, 614 Evergreen Rd., in Gilpin Township. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.
