Maria Louise (Freilino) Freilino-Glunt

Maria Louise Freilino-Glunt, 56, of Penn Hills, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her beloved grandmother’s home in Leechburg.

A daughter of John Banichar and Karen Freilino, she was born February 13, 1967 in New Kensington, PA.

Maria had been employed as a Senior Research Scientist for the University of Pittsburgh for over 30 years.  She wholeheartedly loved her two dogs, Zena and Zeus, affectionately known as her “Puppas.”  Maria enjoyed reading, running, watching Jeopardy!, solving the NY Times crossword puzzles, and especially spending time with her family.  She was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include her parents of Leechburg; beloved maternal grandmother, Dolores Jean Freilino of Leechburg; brother, Matthew Banichar of Leechburg; sisters, Nicola Batts (Cornelius) of Lithia, FL, Margaret Banichar (Scott Powell) of Leechburg; aunts, Mary Louise Banichar of Skillman, NJ, Debra Claypool (Ron) of Leechburg; and uncles, Gilbert Freilino (Wendy) of Delmont, Joseph Banichar (Nancy) of Leechburg.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ida Banichar; and maternal grandfather, Gilbert Freilino.

Friends will be welcomed by her family on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
