Loretta Jane (Virostek) Hirshka Obituary

Loretta Jane (Virostek) Hirshka, 86, of Hyde Park, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.


A daughter of the late Joseph “Moses” Virostek and Christine (Dynka) Virostek, she was born October 25, 1939, in Kepple Hill, PA.


Loretta had worked as a unit secretary for Allegheny Valley Hospital for 16 years before retiring in 2007.  She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township.  She was an avid sports fan for her children and grandchildren attending many of their sporting activities over the years.  Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was cherished most of all.  Loretta enjoyed reading, crocheting, working on puzzle books, and traveling.  She had traveled to 41 of the 50 U.S. states, including Hawaii and Alaska.


She is survived by five children, Joseph Hirshka Jr. (Kelly) of Apollo, Jeff Hirshka (Renee) of Lower Burrell, Jason Hirshka (Doreen) of Allegheny Township, Judy Ciesielski (Mark) of Lower Burrell, Jayne Wilson (former husband Kirk) of Hyde Park; 11 grandchildren, Nickolas Ciesielski, Nicole Tinney (Ryne), Joseph F. Hirshka III (Alison), Aaron Hirshka (Jenna Jones), Ryan Wilson (Aimee), Nathan Wilson (Melissa), Zachary Wilson (Chrissie Chambers), Hunter Hirshka, Dustin Schreiber (Jesse), Lindsay Hensley (Patrick), Robyn Schreiber; 14 great-grandchildren, Alexis Montgomery, Joseph F. Hirshka IV, Scarlett Jones, Liam Wilson, Jack Wilson, Derek Wilson, Cayde Wilson, Asher Wilson, Briella Lillian Tinney, Natalie Plish, Marty Schreiber, Wren Schreiber, Lincoln Hensley, Theodore Hensley; a brother, Joseph Virostek (Pat) of Diamond, OH; a sister, Rosalie Williams of Niles, OH; two brothers-in-law, Don Higgins of Bristolville, OH, Skip Brown of Ruskin, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Hirshka Sr. in 2015; and sisters, Mildred Kallok, Joyce Heatherly, Nancy Higgins, Janet Brown.


Friends will be welcomed by her family on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  Parting Prayers of Transfer will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday, March 6, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Noon at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant.  Private interment will be held at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
