Judith A. (Scott) Nelson

Judith A. (Scott) Nelson, 85, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Concordia at Fox Chapel.

A daughter of the late Leo Edward Scott and Jane Louise (Richel) Scott, she was born April 14, 1936, in Hyde Park, PA.

Judy was a 1954 graduate of Leechburg High School.  She and her husband, before retirement, were co-owners of Valley Plumbing and Heating with her daughter Jennifer and her husband Dennis.  Judy was a member of the Riverside Community Church in Oakmont.  Judy performed charitable works on several mission trips in Kenya, Africa and Haiti.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her three daughters, Jennifer Caveglia (Dennis) of Gilpin Township, Joyce Cortileso (Jeffrey) of Allegheny Township, Jane Irvin (Paul) of Plum; seven grandchildren, Joel Cortileso (Lauren), Jessica Cortileso (Sean Cole), Jenna Bono (Eric), Sara McMeans (Dan), Christy Irvin and Olivia Irvin; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. David Nelson, in 2003; and a grandson, Scott Caveglia in 2019.

Private funeral ceremonies will be held at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).  Interment will be private at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.  Donations in memory of Judy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 620 Sea Island Road, Suite 324, St. Simons Island, GA 31522.
