Joseph D. Silicki, 73, of West Leechburg, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Rolling Hills Nursing Facility in Bridgeport, Ohio.
A son of the late Constantine Silicki and Stephanie (Borowski) Silicki, he was born February 10, 1950 in Natrona Heights, PA.
Joseph was a 1968 graduate of Kiski Area High School. He furthered his education at various colleges and universities, earning his Bachelor’s degree and several certificates of learning. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed as a Systems Control Specialist with the F.A.A. at the Pittsburgh International Airport for over 50 years.
Joseph was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church in Lower Burrell and the V.F.W. Post 92 in Lower Burrell. He was a classic car enthusiast and collector who liked going to car cruises. His other interests included photography, history, and collecting rocks, minerals and gemstones, which led to his serving as president of a rock club. He enjoyed attending air shows and Penn State football games, playing the guitar, traveling, and horseback riding in Gettysburg.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Elaine A. (Pirone) Silicki of West Leechburg; a son, Matthew D. Silicki (Dana) of Axton, Virginia; a daughter, Jamie V. Silicki (John) of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Autumn and Cody Silicki.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Silicki; a brother, Robert “Bob” Silicki; two sisters, Connie Henry and Antoinette Symionof.
Friends will be welcomed by his family on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Blessing service beginning at 12 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, with the Rev. Kenneth Zaccagnini officiating. Private interment will be held at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies in Bridgeville with military honors conducted.
