John P. McKallip, 84, of Cabot, formerly of Gilpin Township, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Concordia of Cabot.
A son of the late John G. McKallip and Mary (Mayer) McKallip, he was born on August 15, 1940, in Natrona Heights, PA.
John was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a metallurgist for Allegheny Ludlun Steel at the Bagdad plant for over 30 years before retirement. He was of the Lutheran faith. John was also a pilot who enjoyed flying his small Cessna plane, hunting, gunsmithing, and taking his annual hunting trip to Colorado.
Survivors include his wife, Meda B. (Roush) McKallip of Cabot; a sister, Margaret E. McKallip of Gilpin Township. He was a good friend of Meda’s children, Kathy Anthony (Trooper) of Allegheny Township, Steve Pochiba (Robin) of Leechburg, and their children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Pollock.
Friends will be welcomed by his family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating. Private interment will be made at the convenience of the family.
