James Lewis Newell

James Lewis Newell, 89, of Allegheny Twp., PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Quality Life Services (West Haven Manor) in Washington Twp.

A son of the late James M. Newell and Wanda (Wyant) Newell, he was born June 12, 1928 in Arnold, PA.

James was a 1946 graduate of the former Scott High School in North Braddock and a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II.  He had worked as an electrician with the Dravo Corporation on Neville Island, McKees Rocks, for 32 years before retiring in 1983.  James was a member of the Puckety Presbyterian Church in Lower Burrell, the F&AM of Penn Hills and the Syria Temple in Springdale.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and square dancing.

Survivors include his brother, Howard M. Newell (Jane) of Allegheny Twp.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Letitia Jane “Tish” (Thom) Newell in 2011.

Visitation, funeral ceremonies and interment will all be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).
