James C. Fennell, 92, a lifelong resident of Leechburg, went to be with his loving wife, Betty, of 57 years, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Concordia Lutheran Health & Human Care in Cabot.
A son of the late Charles N. “Zip” Fennell and Josephine T. “Pena” (Secondo) Fennell, he was born November 4, 1928, in Bagdad (Gilpin Township), PA.
Jim proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He started his career working at the First National Bank of Leechburg as a teller eventually achieving the appointment as President of the bank. He was employed there for 39 years before retiring in 1985. Jim enjoyed camping and was an avid fly fisherman who cherished his times at the stream. He was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg, the Leechburg VFW Post 330, the Leechburg B.P.O.E. Lodge 377, the Leechburg American Legion Post, the Leechburg F&AM Masonic Lodge, the Pittsburgh Syria Shriners, and the Coudersport Consistory.
Survivors include his daughter, Tracey Demboski (Gary) of DuBois; a sister, Virginia Sherden (Steve) of West Leechburg; and a niece, Kim Sherden.
A private family viewing will be held at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) followed by private funeral ceremonies with Pastor Ryan Pusch officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
