Obituary
Howard T. “Barney” Shearer, 98, of Allegheny Township, passed away in his residence.
A son of the late Howard L. Shearer and Anne E. (Tench) Shearer, he was born August 11, 1924 in Leechburg, PA.
Howard had been owner and operator of Shearer’s Garage in Allegheny Township since its opening in 1954 until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. Howard was a member of Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg, and the VFW and Masonic Lodge organizations. He enjoyed wood and metal working, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son, Robert Shearer of Gilpin Township; two grandsons, Daniel Shearer (Melissa) and Robert Shearer (Rebecca); two great-grandsons, Noah and Vance Shearer; a sister, Barbara Malcolm of Natrona Heights; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mary M. (Altman) Shearer in Nov. 2022; and two brothers, James and Jack Shearer.
