Helen M. Swarmer, nee Momberger, 92, formerly of Allegheny Township, died Sunday, February 13, 2022, in her Lone Tree, Colorado, home.
She was born March 6, 1929, near Saltsburg, to the late Conrad H. and Edna J. (Martz) Momberger and spent her first 85 years in Pennsylvania where she celebrated life with her family and many friends.
She loved tending her flowers, reading, cheering for the Pirates and Steelers, and over the years going on many bowling trips to various cities throughout the country. She worked as a cook at Traversa’s, the Bonfire, and a few other local restaurant establishments. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Vandergrift and later in life joined the Faith Community Baptist Church in Allegheny Township.
She is survived by one son, John K. (Susan) Swarmer of Colorado Springs, CO; three daughters, Donna (Bill) Spang of San Antonio, TX, Beverly (Don) Goss, of Edinboro PA, and Carroll (Nelson) Rosenstein of Lone Tree, CO; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Swarmer; her son, Lawrence D. Swarmer; five brothers, Harry Momberger, Ralph Momberger, Earl Momberger, Lloyd Momberger, and Raymond Momberger.
Friends will be welcomed by her family from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051). Funeral ceremonies will be held at noon on Saturday with local pastor, the Reverend James V. Arter III, officiating. A committal ceremony will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park Chapel, Lower Burrell, immediately following the service.
