Harry Phillip Gray Obituary

Harry Phillip Gray, 82, of Ford City, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, with his sons, Jeffrey and David, at his side. Born on March 27, 1942, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Walter C. Gray and Alma Jean Shaffer Gray. Harry lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to God and his family.

On August 7, 1965, Harry married the love of his life, Marjorie Gray, in Leechburg, Pennsylvania. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories until her passing. Harry was a proud father to his sons, Jeffrey (Mandy) Gray of Ford City and Dr. David (Angela) Gray of Export. He delighted in his grandchildren—Jessica, Logan, Zielia, and Mason—and his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Shawn, with whom he shared countless joyful moments.

Harry is also survived by his brothers, Franklin Gray of Apollo, recently widowed by the passing of his wife Marie, and Francis (Pat) Gray of Leechburg, and his sister, Joyce, of New York. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie, and his brothers, Jerry Victor and Gary.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Harry served his country with honor before dedicating himself to careers as a coal miner and carpenter. His hands built not only structures, but also a life rich with passion and purpose. Harry found joy in the simple pleasures: gardening, hunting, walking with his dog, and watching movies and favorite TV shows. He had a particular fondness for his late wife Margie’s homemade cookies, sour cherry pie, and jelly. Most of all, he adored time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of Homewood Baptist Church, Harry’s spirit was grounded in community and faith. Harry’s warmth, strength, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received by his family on Thursday, March 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Friday, March 28, at 11 a.m. with Pastor James November officiating.  Interment will follow at Homewood Baptist Church Cemetery in Logansport.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the SPCA, a cause Harry held dear.
