George E. Cehily, 100, of Allegheny Township, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot.

George was born September 28, 1922 in Allegheny Township, PA, to John and Sophia (Popovich) Cehily.  He worked in the heat treating, metallurgy department, at Braeburn Alloy Steel retiring in 1985 after 44 years of service. He served during World War II in the Army 530 Heavy Tank Division in Normandy, Omaha Beach, Rhineland Central Europe, and several other locations in the European theater. He was awarded the Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, the European African Middle, WWII Victory, and the Good Conduct medals.

George married Helen Krafick in 1956, and they subsequently built a new home in Allegheny Township.  After retiring, he worked with his brother, Charlie, selling lawn and garden equipment.  His interests and hobbies included gardening, old farm equipment, trout fishing, hunting, auctions, reading, WWII stories, and listening to talk radio.  He was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township.  

He is survived by his sons, Gregory and Peter Cehily, both of Allegheny Township; his brother-in-law, William Krafick (Rose); sister-in-law, Ann Krafick; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen in 2003; sisters, Sophia, Julie and Helen Cehily, and Mary Salego; and brothers, John, Mike and Charlie Cehily.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Blessing Service on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, with the Rev. James H. Loew, O.S.B. officiating.  Entombment will be privately held at Greenwood Mausoleum in Lower Burrell.
