Frederick Wayne "Ricky" Albert

Frederick Wayne “Ricky” Albert, 73, of Allegheny Township, formerly of Apollo, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas morning as the sun was coming up on the birth date of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A son of the late Fiack Albert and Evelyn (Gallo) Albert, he was born March 9, 1947, in Natrona Heights.

Rick graduated from Apollo High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor degree in Education, then continuing on for his Masters degree.  He taught at Kiski Area School District for 35 years before retiring in 2004.  He also coached football for the Cavaliers and treated every student as if they were his own.  Rick was the previous owner of the Central, Ricky’s, End Zone and currently Cicero’s Bar & Restaurants.  He always donned a contagious smile for which he will be remembered fondly.

He was the beloved husband of Melinda (Moore) Albert.  Ricky is survived by his loving children, Olivia Nicole Albert (Jordan Weaver) of Allegheny Township, Kristan Albert of Cheswick and Marc Albert of Pittsburgh; sisters, Colleen Rickenbacher (Steve) of Dallas, TX, Tammy Gary of Monroeville, Judi Albert (Terry DiBattista) of McKees Rocks; and Diane Albert (mother of Kristan and Marc).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, George Gary.

Friends will be welcomed by his family on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. James H. Loew, O.S.B. as celebrant. All visitors are asked to respectfully follow current state guidelines of required masks/face coverings, social distancing and gathering restrictions.  Private interment will be made at the convenience of the family.  The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) has been entrusted with arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rick Albert Memorial Scholarship Fund beginning on January 7th, in c/o First Commonwealth Bank, 1147 S. Leechburg Hill Road, Leechburg, PA 15656.  Scholarships will be awarded to both a Kiski Area and Leechburg Area School District graduating senior.
