It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn J. (McWhinney) Grantz, of Allegheny Township, who peacefully passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on September 7, 1937, in West Leechburg, she was the beloved daughter of Eugene S. McWhinney and Agnes B. (Faulk) McWhinney. Throughout her life she was known for her kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Evelyn was a 1956 graduate of Leechburg High School. She had been employed as a support representative by Giant Eagle Corp. office in RIDC Park retiring in 1987. Earlier in her career, she was a telephone operator for GTE in Vandergrift. She was also the owner and operator of Evelyn’s Beauty Shop for 15 years. Evelyn was a member of Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg where she was an elder and participated in the church Women’s Association. She was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Kiski Valley and Meals on Wheels of Vandergrift. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, baking, bowling, and spending time with family and friends at the family’s camp at Crooked Creek.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Guyaux of Lower Burrell, and Kelly Heavner (Gregory) of Allegheny Township; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Young of Allegheny Township.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. Grantz Jr. in 2024; a son, Brian S. Grantz; a daughter, Corinne Fleming; and sisters, Dorothy Akins and Patricia Weaver.

Private funeral ceremonies will be held at Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church and have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.
