Evelyn Margaret (Shaffer) Conto, 91, of Hyde Park, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, in her residence.

A daughter of the late John Preston Shaffer and Alice Letitia (Reed) Shaffer, she was born September 3, 1934, in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, PA.

Evelyn had long time career as a registered nurse employed by the medical practice of Drs. McFadden and Williams for over 45 years before she retired in 2005.  She was of the Lutheran faith.  Evelyn enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening and arts and crafts.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Michael “Mike” Conto (Gina) of Tarrytown, NY, and John Elliot Conto of Cederburg, Wisconsin; two grandsons, Charles Samuel Conto and John Peter Conto; a brother, John Shaffer (Jan) of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Carol Bellavia of Arnold and Marjorie Thomas of York.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Conto in 1980; and a brother, Donald Shaffer.

All arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  Private interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
