Eleanor Faye (McElroy) Jones

Eleanor Faye Jones is at peace with her Heavenly Father having passed quietly in her sleep on December 7, 2020 at 10:53 P.M.   The cause of death was progressive Parkinson’s Disease.  During the past four years she resided at Concordia at Ridgewood Place where she received excellent care and compassion.

Faye was born on July 26, 1927, in New Kensington PA and was the second daughter of Lloyd and Anna McElroy.   She is survived by her sister Jeannette Hile of Latrobe PA and brother Leonard McElroy of New Kensington, PA.   Faye loved her 13 nieces and nephews with whom she shared many birthdays and holidays through the years.  Faye’s work ethic was a hallmark of her character.  She worked at Alcoa in New Kensington for seven years prior to getting married; then worked for eleven years at Hessoms’ Restaurant and 25 years at Hallmark in Lower Burrell.

Faye is preceded in death by her husband Paul of 52 years.   Faye and Paul enjoyed a full life with three children, Thomas Paul (Beth) of Leechburg, Ellen Jones Polhamus (Richard) of Bethesda MD and Richard Clair (Catherine) of Allison Park.  

Tom, Ellen and Rich are united in love of their Mom and their belief that her life well-lived was based on her strong faith, her love of God and her love of family.  Of all the dimensions of her life, her eight grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren were her light and her joy. Sarah Jones, Andy Jones, Emily Mitchell, Maggie Nicholas, Adam, Michael, Kyle, Tommy Jones, Katherine and Andrew Polhamus loved “Grandma” and her exceptional meals, great parties, music and game nights!  Each one of them brought her fun, energy and the spirit of hope.

Her five great-grandchildren, Emerson and Liam Jones, Evelyn and Jane Mitchell and Bradley Nicholas affectionately called Faye, “Great-Gee.”

Faye’s funeral service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Run Presbyterian Church, Markle, PA.   An hour of public visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.  Private interment will be made at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.  The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) is handling arrangements. Charitable donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Pine Run Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Concordia at Ridgewood Place.
