Dolores Jean (Thompson) Freilino, 93, of Leechburg, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, in her residence.
A daughter of the late Leroy Harris Thompson and Dorothy Isabel (Tippett) Thompson, she was born February 16, 1930 in Leechburg, PA.
Dolores was a 1949 graduate of Leechburg Area High School, who until recently, enjoyed attending monthly luncheons with her classmates. She had been employed as a senior merchandise manager for the former J.C. Penney store in Lower Burrell for 25 years before retiring in 1993. Dolores was a member of the Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg where she was the president of W.E.L.C.A. for many years. She also served on the election board for Leechburg in the past. Dolores liked making quilts for her family and church, and playing cards with her friends, among spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Gilbert M. Freilino (Wendy) of Delmont, Karen L. Freilino of Leechburg, Debra G. Claypool (Ronald) of Leechburg; five grandchildren, Nicola Batts (Cornelius), Molly Hill (David Reed), Jamie Hill, Jessica Freilino, Krisann Freilino (Tim Foley); a step-grandson, Philip Savino; five great-grandchildren, Chiana Morgan, Sofia Morgan, Jaden Phillips (Kirsten), Chloe Reed, Tanner Reed; four step-great-grandchildren, Tobias, Dominic, Tanisha, and Christopher Batts; two great-great-grandchildren, Lola Foley, Isla Rose Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gilbert Mario Freilino in 2008; granddaughter, Maria Freilino in 2023; brothers, John F. Thompson, James E. Thompson; sisters, Roberta Vallino, Patricia Kennedy.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, where additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
