Denise Marie Kummick, 65, of West Leechburg, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her residence.
A daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth H. (Kish) Kummick, she was born September 26, 1957, in Natrona Heights, PA.
Denise was a graduate of Leechburg Area High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). She was last employed as a supervisor by the Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging in Greensburg for 29 years before retiring in 2012. She was an active member and pillar of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in West Leechburg. Denise faithfully volunteered at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ford City where she had taught religious classes and served on the pierogi and bake sale teams. She most treasured spending her time with family and attending family events where she was affectionately known as the Appetizer Queen. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, going to the casino with her sister Linda, and creating beautiful and intricate pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs).
Survivors include her brother, Donald Kummick (Jane Paino, MD) of Venice, FL; her sisters, Vivian Cribbs (Richard) of Ford Cliff, Kathleen Seren of Cabot, Linda Warcholak (Michael) of West Leechburg, Patricia Kummick (Jeff Fait) of Greensburg; nieces and nephews, David Cribbs of Rural Valley, Amy Bruner (Troy) of Ford City, Jonathan Kummick (Alyssa) of Pendelton, IN, Matthew Seren (Allison) of Potomac, MD, Janelle Kummick of Indianapolis, IN, Zeppy and Zoe Kummick of Venice, FL; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Clarine (Russell) Kummick and brother-in-law, David Seren.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051 with Parastas Service held at 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 11, beginning at 12:30 p.m. followed by Divine Liturgy at 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Main St., West Leechburg, with the Rev. John D. Gribik as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
