Dean Mefford Myers Obituary

Dean Mefford Myers, 74, of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Jefferson Regional Hospital in Clairton.


A son of the late Milo Myers and Jenny (Myers) Myers, he was born on October 12, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA.


Dean was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy having honorably served for six years during the Vietnam War with the USS Buchanan.  He received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. Through the years, he remained active with his fellow Navy retirees.  Dean was founder and owner of Myers Vacuum Pump business for over 30 years, as well as having owned HyG Company (crash test equipment).


Along with his wife, they were foster parents for many years in Armstrong County, having over 80 children in their care over the years.  Dean enjoyed hunting, traveling, and raising buffalo on his farm.  He was of the Lutheran faith.


Survivors include his brother-in-law, Paul Reed of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends and business associates, Roger Jr. and Daniette Kromer.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Brandy Elois Myers in 2023; and sisters, Alvina Polka, Reta Klingensmith, Eleanor Shellhammer, Elsie Reed.


The Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, has been entrusted with all private arrangements with interment to be made at the convenience of the family.  Donations in memory of Dean are suggested to the Save A Yorkie Rescue, 1702 W.
