David P. Shavensky, 70, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Quality Life Services-Apollo.

A son of the late Steve Shavensky and Jacqueline Jeanne (Tarnek) Shavensky, he was born on January 7, 1954, in Natrona Heights.

David had been employed as a welder by Allegheny Ludlum Steel.  David enjoyed working with his hands and was quite the craftsman.  He also enjoyed watching science fiction movies and TV shows.  David was an animal lover, and while he had an affinity for cats, he had domesticated some “exotic” animals as well.  Upon retirement in 2006, his enjoyment came from making 3D art for his granddaughter and spending time with her, riding around in his Jeep, relaxing in his hammock, and hanging out with his two feline companions.

Survivors include his daughter, Lori B. Rupert (Robert) of Apollo; his son, Brian Shavensky (fiancée Steffani Fondrk) of Leechburg; a granddaughter, Emma Rupert; a brother, Gary Shavensky (Diane) of Orchard Park, NY; two sisters, Renee Pawlak (Gerard) of Sarver, Robin Nortrup (Dave) of Ford City; his former spouse and friend, Kathy Shavensky of Lower Burrell; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitation or funeral ceremonies.  Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
