David L. Huggins, 83, of Lower Burrell, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, at AHN Wexford Hospital.

A son of the late Allen Richard Huggins and Lois Grace (Calkins) Huggins, he was born May 21, 1943 at home in Williamsport, in Lycoming County, PA.

David graduated from Williamsport Area Senior High School in 1961. He spent a year traveling through Europe studying architecture. He continued his education at Penn State achieving a Master’s degree in Architecture.  David was employed as an Associate Professor of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University (1967-1999), receiving the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Faculty, and was also the Program Coordinator of Mechanical Engineering Technology Program (2 MET) for the university. He founded and owned Design Consultants architectural firm. His interests included golf, travel, walking, hiking, racquetball, tennis, and sailing. He was a volunteer with the Lions Club for many years and King Lion 2006-2007. David most treasured spending his time with his grandchildren and being their beloved “Pop Pop.”

He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Huggins) Walton and son-in-law, Ryan Walton; his son, Brian David Huggins and daughter-in-law, Alexa Huggins; granddaughters, Isadora and Adira Huggins; brother, Gary Huggins; long-time friend, Patricia Adams; many nieces, nephews, other friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Gerry Lynn Huggins; brothers, Richard and Raymond Huggins; and a sister, Wanda Huggins.

Friends will be welcomed by his family on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies beginning at Noon at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating.  Private interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
