Charlotte Jane (Kirk) Nigro

Charlotte Jane (Kirk) Nigro, 91, of Leechburg, died peacefully at 12:42 a.m., on Monday, April 11, 2022, in the loving arms of her son, Mark, and her daughter, Joni.

She was born on June 26, 1930, in New Kensington, and lived at her current residence for the past 60 years.

Nan, as she was known by most, enjoyed spending time sitting on her front porch.  She loved being the “Mayor of Main Street” and always had a wave and a smile for the people passing by.  Nan’s most prized possession was her family – son Mark, daughter Joni, and grandchildren Jacob, Taylor and Alli Jane.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and also spending time with Mark’s dog, Charlie.  She was the heart and soul of her family.

Charlotte had been employed as a women’s clothing store manager by the former Philadelphia Store in Leechburg for 35 years before retiring.  She was a member of Christ The King Parish in Gilpin Township, Monday Evening Club in Leechburg, the Marconi Club Auxiliary in Leechburg, Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary in Natrona Heights, and the former St. Catherine’s Church Guild.

Survivors include her son, Mark E. Nigro of Leechburg; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Joni) Oberdorf of West Leechburg; three grandchildren, Jacob Robert, Taylor Marcus and Alli Jane (Ryan).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dollie (Lyle) Kirk; her husband of 48 years, Robert E. Nigro; her sisters, Anna Mae Dentici, Jody Watterson, Carroll Oberdorf; and a brother, Charles Kirk.

A private family visitation and Blessing service will be held at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051 with Rev. James H. Loew, O.S.B. officiating.  Private interment will be held at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township.
