Charles J. Adamchuk, 95, of West Leechburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in his residence.
A son of the late John Adamchuk and Sophia (Kwasnicka) Adamchuk, he was born on June 23, 1929, in West Leechburg, PA.
Charles was a 1947 graduate of Leechburg High School and a 1956 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. During the Korean War, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 with KSM w/3BCS, UNSM. He had been employed as a laborer with Allegheny Ludlum Steel and also worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a production planner and purchasing department senior buyer of nuclear raw material, fabricated parts, and capital equipment before retiring with 33 years of service in 1990. Charles was a member of Christ The King Parish in Gilpin Township and the former St. Martha R.C. Church in Leechburg. His memberships also included the Vandergrift VFW Post #566 and charter member of the Kiski Valley Water Polution Authority as a West Leechburg representative. Traveling, reading and working on home projects were among his interests. He was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Pitt Panthers.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Norma G. (Canil) Adamchuk of West Leechburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Stephina Adamchuk Madarasz.
Friends will be welcomed by his family on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., the time of Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township, with military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
