Brian Scott Grantz, 51, of Allegheny Twp., PA, passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack, becoming an organ donor, on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his campsite in Crooked Creek.
A son of Clarence H. Grantz Jr. and Evelyn J. (McWhinney) Grantz, he was born May 9, 1967 in New Kensington, PA.
Brian was a 1986 graduate of Kiski Area High School where he played football. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Guam during Operation Desert Storm. For 28 years he never missed a day of work as a Senior Product Release Coordinator at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in RIDC Park. Brian was a member of Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg. He enjoyed camping, bowling, fishing, watching all sports and spending time at his camp with his dog Coco.
Survivors include his parents of Allegheny Twp., PA; two sisters, Karen Guyaux of Lower Burrell, PA and Kelly Heavner (Gregory) of Allegheny Twp., PA; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Donna Potts.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Corinne Grantz Fleming; and a brother-in-law, Robert Guyaux.
Friends welcomed by his family on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) followed by funeral ceremonies beginning at 8 PM with the Rev. Gary J. Lyon officiating and military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
