Barb (Fitzmaurice) Smail

Barb (Fitzmaurice) Smail, 77, of Leechburg, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

A daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Fitzmaurice, she was born August 3, 1948.

Barb worked as a laborer for I.D.L. in Butler, PA, before retiring in 2010.  She enjoyed baking, playing bingo, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Joseph P. Smail (Lisa) of West Leechburg, and Missy Sproull (Garry) of Leechburg; five grandchildren, Justin Boyd, Craig Boyd, Dustin Smail, Devin Smail, Samantha Smail; three great-grandchildren, Ariadne Boyd, Jedidiah Boyd, Hadlee Boyd; and a sister, Carol McKenzie of Tucson, Arizona.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Smail in 2015; brothers, William and Patrick Fitzmaurice; sisters, Margaret Meyers and Eleanor DiGiacobble.

Friends will be welcomed by the family on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Private interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
