Andrew C. “Poogie” Petrovich Sr., 98, of Gilpin Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at home with his family at his side.
A son of the late Andrew C. Petrovich and Velma (Gombush) Petrovich, he was born April 1, 1923, in Leechburg.
Poogie was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a slitter operator for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in West Leechburg for 37 years without ever missing a scheduled turn (shift). Poogie was of the Catholic faith, an avid hunter who enjoyed his daily walks and fishing, and above all loved his family. His smiling face and sweet demeanor will be missed by all.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew Petrovich Jr. (Elizabeth) of Lower Burrell, Daniel Petrovich of New Kensington; two daughters, Cynthia Richards and her husband Kenny of Gilpin Township (who lovingly took care of Poogie for the past two years in their home), and Wendy Robinson of New Kensington; three grandchildren, Mark Petrovich, Charity Wilson, Daniel Robinson; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claire (Butler) Petrovich; a daughter, Linda Stats; a brother, Steve Petrovich; and two sisters, Caroline Zeigler and Lenka Santos.
