William G. Stegner

William G. Stegner, 79, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 in his residence.

A son of the late Frederick Stegner and Ruth (Fetterman) Stegner Walmer, he was born April 9, 1938 in Leechburg, PA.

William was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had attended the Apollo Assembly of God Church.  For 35 years, he was employed as a truck driver with various trucking companies.  After retirement from trucking, he drove school bus for First Students and Roenick’s Transportation companies.  He enjoyed riding horses, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Susan (Vassar) Stegner of Gilpin Twp., PA; a son, Joel T. Stegner of Leechburg, PA; three daughters, Vicki R. Meyrs (Thomas) of Gilpin Twp., PA, Joy R. Stegner of Vandergrift, PA, Billijo R. Stegner of Vandergrift, PA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha A. Roush of Leechburg, PA and Mary Hiller of Ford City, PA.

There will be no public visitation.  Friends and family are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Apollo Assembly of God Church, 609 First St., Apollo, with the Rev. Cullen Allen officiating.  Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.   Arrangements have been entrusted to the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).
