Lawrence Edward Blumer, 79, of Washington Township, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland.

A son of the late Lawrence Blumer and Catherine (Rodgers) Blumer, he was born in Pittsburgh, PA.

Lawrence received his Masters degree in Education and early in his teaching career he taught at Evans City and New Kensington.  He  retired in 1993 as an elementary principal from the Leechburg School District with over 35 years of service.  Lawrence was of the Catholic faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.  He enjoyed being a spectator at his grandchildren’s athletic events and going to camp in Potter County.  He was a force to be reckoned with and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Linda Blumer of Washington Twp., PA; his sons, Joseph C. Blumer (Lorie) of Gilpin Twp., PA and John E. Blumer (Heather) of Leechburg, PA; grandchildren, Joseph, Jack, Jake and Brooke Blumer; step-sons, Patrick Ellenberger of Vandergrift, PA, and Larry Ellenberger of Duncansville, PA; step-grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, Elizabeth, Michael and Mitchell Ellenberger.  He was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and his loving sister, Kathleen Pilszak.

Friends welcomed by his family on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 1 PM until the time of services at 3 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) with the Reverend James H. Loew, O.S.B. officiating.  Interment will be private.
